Donna and Rona, thank you both for your kindness and for sharing the story behind the mural. I was deeply touched by your words.

I would also like to thank Dina De La Vega, whose friendship, guidance, and generosity helped make so much of this possible. Having the mural displayed within sight of the United Nations and then sharing it the following day at Art in the Park brought many smiles to faces that, on those days of remembrance, often struggle to find them. That was a remarkable gift.

Thank you as well to everyone involved with Art in the Park and the June 12 remembrance. What all of you created was far more than an event. It was a gathering of hearts, memories, art, music, and community. From the volunteers and organizers to the elected officials, and the countless people who stopped to listen, every person became part of the story.

The mural may have been painted by my hands, but it belongs to the survivors, the families, and all those who continue to choose love over hatred, compassion over indifference, and hope over despair.

I cannot thank all of you enough for that gift of love. And I look so forward to returning next year and being with everybody once again.

With gratitude,

Michael Pilato

How wonderful to showcase this amazing event! Donna and Rona are sensational women, and I'm proud to be a Tudor City artist and to have taken part in the last two events. The level of talent is off the charts, and the even creates a special sense of community among the artists in the area, and also among the neighbors. The whole event feels very supportive and nurturing and all about coming together in this special little oasis that is Tudor City. In a world so divided these days, we need more things like this to remind us that we are part of something special. I look forward to next year!

It's so true, Tanya. I love the idea of more events that bring us together... and more Art in the Park!
